Pragmatics

Pragmatics is a linguistics branch that studies natural language comprehension and mainly the impact of contexts on understanding meaning. These contexts include extra-linguistic means, such as societal, environmental, and psychological issues.

Discourse Analysis

Discourse analysis is the study of language beyond the boundaries of the sentence, and it integrates several research fields, including sociolinguistics and logic, to analyze a sequence of connected and coherent sentences. According to systemic linguistics, the use of language is complex and multifaceted; every layer has its context, and all layers connect hierarchically: the ideological context < the cultural context < the circumstantial context < the textual context.
