Holocaust research engages in the historical and methodological examination of many aspects of the Holocaust: psychological and sociological aspects, the study of trauma, remembrance, and more.

Translations of Holocaust testimonies and memoirs deal with the same dilemmas related to the way Holocaust knowledge and research are conveyed and shaped. They are concerned with questions such as how to resolve the conflict between the inability to express inconceivable events and the necessity to put them in writing, and into what extent can (or should) empirical research contain subjective materials.
