English Course Descriptions for MA English (beyond the BA exemption level)
M Course – One Semester, 4 weekly hours
If English has always been a challenge for you, this course will provide the right solution.
The M course strengthens academic and professional English, providing students with tools for reading academic texts and responding to them in speaking and writing. Speaking and listening are integrated into class sessions and assignments, and all students prepare and deliver a professional or academic presentation. The course also actively promotes thoughtful and ethical use of AI tools to support task completion and language development. Delivered in a pleasant, supportive atmosphere, this course will build your confidence in spoken English.
The M course takes place on campus, with four classes held online. Attendance via Zoom is not available for the in-person classes.
M4 Course – One Semester, 4 weekly hours
The M4 course is for students who need to advance their English proficiency for use in authentic academic and professional contexts across multiple domains. It equips students with tools for academic and professional reading and writing, using reading as a springboard for speaking, writing, and critical thinking. Speaking and listening are integrated into class sessions and assignments, and all students prepare and deliver a professional or academic presentation. The course also actively promotes thoughtful and ethical use of AI tools to support task completion and language development.
The M4 course takes place on campus, with four classes held online. Attendance via Zoom is not available for the in-person classes.
M2 Course – One Semester, 2 weekly hours
Would you like to strengthen your academic and professional writing skills and communicate your ideas more effectively in English? Whether you are working on a seminar paper, thesis, or article for publication, this course will provide you with practical tools and strategies to achieve your goals. The M2 course focuses on developing students’ ability to use academic English, rewrite cumbersome sentences, and refine their general writing skills. The knowledge and principles gained from this course will support students with academic writing in any language. Speaking and listening are integrated into class sessions and assignments, and all students prepare and deliver a professional or academic presentation. The course also actively promotes thoughtful and ethical use of AI tools to support task completion and language development.
The M2 course will be conducted primarily via Zoom. Classes involving student presentations (during the final weeks of the course) will be held in person on campus. Exact dates will be provided by the course instructor. Attendance via Zoom is not available for the in-person classes.
