English for MA students: Beyond the BA-level exemption

In academia, high-level English conveys a significant advantage in acquiring disciplinary language and norms, and in communicating effectively with colleagues and peers locally and internationally. In the professional realm, the importance of English for employment and career development is undisputed. Fluent English and high-level proficiency in written and verbal expression offer a distinct advantage in the job market.

MA English courses (beyond the undergraduate English exemption level) help students develop their academic and professional English skills to complete reading and writing tasks more efficiently, to communicate more effectively in conversations and presentations, and to harness AI tools strategically and ethically.

The department offers courses at three proficiency levels: M, M4, and M2. All courses are conducted as workshops in small groups in a pleasant and friendly atmosphere.

How will you know which course is best for you?

To ensure that every student is placed in a course suited to their English abilities, our department administers placement tests two to three times a year between February and August. Your test results will guide you to the course that will benefit you the most. If you demonstrate a sufficient level of English on the placement test, you will receive an exemption from the graduate English course requirement.
